RBT® · ONGOING SUPERVISION

Supervision Is More
Than a Requirement,
It's Your Edge.

As an RBT®, your certification requires ongoing supervision for as long as you provide services. It's one of the most valuable tools you have for growing as a professional and delivering the highest-quality care.

WHAT SUPERVISION IS

Regular, Structured oversight from a qualified supervisor.

It ensures you're delivering behavior-analytic services safely, competently, and ethically throughout your career.
Supervision is required while you practice.

THE MONTHLY MINIMUM

What You're Required to Have Every Month

4 standards every month you provide services. Track them so you always know where you stand.

5%
Of your service hours

A minimum of 5% of your monthly service hours spent in supervision.

2x
Face-to-Face contacts

At least two face-to-face, real time contacts with your supervisor.

1x
Individual contact

At least one contact that is individual with just you and your supervisor.

1x

At least one contact where your supervisor observes you working directly with a client.

YOUR SUPPORT STRUCTURE

Requirements Coordinator

OWN YOUR OVERSIGHT

Advocating for Your Supervision

You have the right to receive supervision that meets BACB® requirements.
If it isn't happening, you're expected to speak up. Here's how.

  Track your hours
Log your own supervision hours every month.
  Schedule proactively
Meet with your supervisor before you fall behind.
  Come prepared
Bring questions, data, and scenarios to every meeting.
  Report if needed
Notify BACB® if supervision requirements aren't met.
  If requirements Aren't Met
Noncompliance can result in termination of your certification and a six-month bar from reapplying. Your supervisor can also face consequences from BACB®.
